Online Videos

When citing an online video, the following pieces of information should be included:

  • If known: the name of the main person responsible for the video, such as a presenter, journalist, director, etc., or the name of the person being interviewed if it is a video of an interview.
    • if it is an interview, also include "interviewed by" and the name of the person conducting the interview.
  • Title of video in quotation marks.
  • If the video is part of a larger work, include the title of the larger work in italics
  • Date the video was recorded
  • Medium of the video (YouTube video, MPEG file, New York Times video, etc.)
  • Length of the recording
  • Include "posted by" if known (such as in a YouTube video)
  • Date the video was uploaded (or the date that you accessed the video if upload date is not available)
  • URL address of the video
