Step 1:
Who is your audience and what is your goal?
Start with who are you trying to reach whether it is students, clubs, student services, faculty, etc. because this will help in idea making and what you want them to take away from your session.
The goal should be aligned with your audience. If you chose students, teaching them how to ethically and responsibly use AI. If it is faculty, depending on their division, how they can better manage their time using AI. There are different goals set for different groups of individuals.
Step 2:
Who to contact?
Depending on your department/division you should reach out to the appropriate member with your ideas of bringing AI onto your campus. This ensures you have permission, you can brainstorm with others, and this builds a collaborative relationship immediately.
It is okay to approach with ideas because depending on your audience, not every action plan will be the same. Keep in mind, each department can use AI in multiple different ways so make sure to look through the lens of those you are teaching. What would be most beneficial to them?
Step 3:
Research.
Don't reinvent the wheel because chances are there are many colleges and businesses that are doing the same thing you want to try.
