Assignment Details

Write a 5-6 page research paper that critically analyzes one of the topics below. Be sure to have a thesis statement in the first paragraph. The statement will be validated, explored, and proved by the content within the body of your paper.

  1. Satire
    Used in 3-4 writers from the English Lit. I period.
  2. On an 18th century novel
    Pick one meaningful feature to analyze and discuss on Joseph Andrews, Moll Flanders, or Humphry Clinker.
  3. What are things that people do to try to make themselves happy?
    Include Chaucer, Shakespeare's King Lear and other sonnets, Swift's Gulliver's Travels, and Samuel Johnson's "The Vanity of Human Wishes" in your analysis.
  4. Didacticism
    ​Use four different life lessons in the English Lit. I timeframe that the literature has communicated.
  5. Justice in life
    Explore issues of justice and fairness that the characters/narrators encounter.
  6. How does Christianity influences the English Literature read this semester?
    Use 3-4 works that you've read this semester.
  7. How Pervasive is the discussion and criticism of pride in the works read throughout the semester?
    Use at least four works to analyze this topic.
