The One-Button Studio is OPEN!!!!

To make an appointment, click on the appointments button or on the link below. 

NOTE: The first time that to wish to schedule a time in the space, you will be required to Register for an Account to reserve the space. It will ask for:

 

  • Name
  • Preferred email and phone number (to send confirmations, reminders, and if needed cancelation notices)
  • Student ID*
  • Two questions about you and how you heard about the appointment service.

*Community members are welcome to use the space at this time but it is subject to change depending on student needs. Please use your public library barcode number in the student ID field.

 

Bring a flash drive to save recording(s). Flash drives are not provided. 

​Getting started

  1. Check in at the Service Desk. An LC staff member will unlock the room.
  2. Set up the space for your recording needs. 
  3. Practice your presentation.
  4. Insert a flash drive into the USB port. The flash drive should have enough free storage to save your video. 1 GB = 15 minutes of recording.
  5. The studio lights will turn on.
  6. To start, press the button. Recording begins after a few seconds of delay.
  7. Do your performance or presentation.
  8. To stop, press the button.  Recording stops and the *.mp4 video file is processed and saved to the flash drive.  A notification will indicate when this is done saving to the flash drive.

Finishing up

  1. If you are not done recording push the button and recording will begin again.
  2. Remove the flash drive and the lights will power off.
  3. Shut down the computers.
  4. Turn off the projector, blue/green light, and ceiling light before leaving.
  5. Return the dongle to the LC Team to be checked back in.
  6. If needed, use Adobe Premier or Movie Maker to edit your video on any of the LC computers (the laptops do not have Adobe products). Do not use the computer in the studio. There is no video editing software on it.

One-Button Studio Guidelines

  • The studio may be used for one-hour with the opportunity to extend it up to three hours, if not busy.
  • The studio is available on a first-come-first-serve basis. 
  • Reservations can be made up to 24 hours in advance, Monday-Friday at the service desk. Reservations can be released if the patron does not arrive after ten minutes of reservation time.
  • The studio can be used by an individual or group up to eight people
  • The recording studio closes an hour before the library closes. 
  • Students are expected to behave professionally in the space and with the equipment.
  • No food or drinks is allowed in the studio.
  •  Any work saved on the computer will be erased upon logging off.

Terms of Use

  • LSC-Kingwood Learning Commons reserves the right to decline any video studio request for any reason.
  • The One Button Studio may only be used to produce videos for lawful and educational purposes.
  • The One Button Studio will not be used to produce or create materials that are:
    • subject to copyright, patent, or trademark protection,
    • in violation of intellectual property rights,
    • prohibited by Lone Star College, local state, or federal government,
    • unsafe, harmful, dangerous or poses an immediate threat to others,
    • obscene or inappropriate for educational institutions,
    • extraneous (videos that will take several hours) to produce.
