Music Research

A starting place for your music research paper.

Music means different things to different people.  A beautiful voice, a symphony orchestra, a wind chime, creative expression, listening to a recording, or losing yourself in your instrument.  What does music mean to you?  Open yourself up to the many possibilities.  Are you a singer?  You could research one of your favorite singers, or the genre you prefer.  Do you play an instrument?  Learn the history of that instrument, go into depth about a concerto, or study one of the major instrumentalists.  Personalize your research and you will find that writing your paper is far more enjoyable.

You may find information in books, articles, musical scores, and audio and video recordings.  Use this guide to help you get started.  When you are at a loss, ask the librarians for advice.

The labs and ID service close 15 minutes before the Learning Commons closes.

The Learning Commons is closed on Saturdays and Sundays,

April 15 for the Spring Holiday
