Music means different things to different people. A beautiful voice, a symphony orchestra, a wind chime, creative expression, listening to a recording, or losing yourself in your instrument. What does music mean to you? Open yourself up to the many possibilities. Are you a singer? You could research one of your favorite singers, or the genre you prefer. Do you play an instrument? Learn the history of that instrument, go into depth about a concerto, or study one of the major instrumentalists. Personalize your research and you will find that writing your paper is far more enjoyable.
