MLA Style requires you to consider two kinds of citations...
In-Text Citations and Works Cited Citations
But, what is the difference?
IN-TEXT CITATIONS
- Reference the sources throughout your paper
- Essentially a shout-out to a single source referenced in your paper
- Follow a direct or indirect quote
- Usually contains information about the author and page number only
WORKS CITED CITATIONS
- Reference the sources at the end of your paper
- Essentially a list of all of the sources referenced in your paper
- Do not include a quote
- Always contains all of the source information
