GOVT 2306: Mock Legislature Project

This guide was created for Dr. Putz's Texas Government classes.

How a Bill Becomes a Law

Assignment Details

Your assignment is to write a new bill or propose an amendment to an existing law.

  • What are some problems you think are facing Texas citizens? Taxes too high? Should marijuana be legal recreationally or just medicinally? What is wrong with k-12 education?
  • Once you decide on which issue to address, you will want to confirm if it is a law. If it is, then how can it be improved upon?
  • You will want several resources that support not only your issue, but how you intend to fix it.  You can use statistics, personal experience, news stories, and articles.
