Reference Librarian Manual

Setting Up for the Day

These are the duties for the person that is opening the Learning Commons for the day. These tasks are generally done before the part-time Reference Librarians shifts, but be mindful in case the opener and Tech person is out.

  • Log onto the Reference Station using the LS_PCL_Library_Reference account. Do Not Use Work Account. The Chrome Browser has everything bookmarked that is needed for the day.

  • Login to  WCOnline, Pharos, and WorkFlows.

    • Can't remember the passwords? We saved several for just such times (in Sharepoint). You can also ask the Service Desk Supervisor. You created passwords for WCOnline and Pharos.

  • Review assigned station's check list.

  • Check the print station to ensure that the paper trays and staplers are full.

  • Make sure all computers are turned on and ready for students.

If you are unsure about any procedures, refer to the Learning Commons manual or ask the Service Desk Supervisor.

Starting Your Shift

  • Clock in for your shift.
  • Grab a Daily Report Log and marker to keep track of your day for statistics.

  • Open your personal work email and the Kingwood.Learningcommons@lonestar.edu email, (Research & Citation folder specifically)

    • Respond to any unanswered emails.

  • Login to PhP Live!, WCOnline, and WorkFlows. (Chat login information has been bookmarked and autosaved in the Chrome browser)

    • Can't remember the passwords? We have them saved for just such times (in Sharepoint). You can also ask the Service Desk Supervisor.

    • If you have trouble logging into WCOnline, reset your password on the home screen of WCOnline.
