Informational Progress Report Assignment Sheet and Rubric
Your final assignment in this class is a research-based informational report. As a reminder, chapter 12 of your textbook covers informational reports. You can find an annotated example of a progress report on p. 322.
The Task
This assignment asks you to do some research and share your findings. Find out how artificial intelligence is changing your desired career field and write a 600–900-word progress report that presents your findings. You should synthesize and summarize your research, addressing the current and predicted state of the field. Your audience is comprised of other college students who are interested in going into the same field. Imagine that they are trying to prepare themselves for the workforce and need to know what to expect from their planned field. (Someone like you!) You must cite CREDIBLE sources. There will be a provided library guide in the module. This is NOT an argument or opinion piece. You are presenting facts here. The goal is to highlight trends in the field, so people are aware of how they need to market themselves as potential employees.
Real World Applicability
This simulates a task you will have to complete in a business setting. Not only do you have to do market research, but you will present it to your colleagues. The assignment thus builds your skill in research, writing, synthesis, document formatting, all while asking you to engage with an indispensable, new technology.
