Topic 1: “The Look of the Games”: Visual Identity of the Paris 2024 Games 

Questions to consider:  

  • How was visual imagery (e.g., landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower) and symbolism used to create the visual identity of the Paris 2024 Games? 

  • How was the concept of the French art de vivre applied to the symbolism?  

  • Art de vivre is the “art of living (well).” The concept of art de vivre and the appreciation of elegance manifest in aspects of daily life such as gastronomy (cooking traditions/practices), fashion, art, and café culture.  

  • How was the visual identity of the Games shared through technical communication (e.g., web sites, videos, social media) to highlight French identity/culture for a global audience?  

  

Topic 2: Brand Identity of Fashion House

  • How is the brand identity of a French fashion house such as Chanel, Givenchy, and Dior expressed via visual storytelling using media such as an Instagram page, digital ad, and web site?
  • How does the fashion house use visual storytelling via technical communication to appeal to its intended audience within a global context?

Topic 3: Gastronomy Heritage

  • How are visual/verbal modes used in technical communication to share the gastronomy heritage of France rooted in the art de vivre, placing in the spotlight the cooking traditions/practices of cities such as Paris and Lyon for a global audience? Research such use of visual/verbal modes in media including culinary school websites ( e.g., Le Cordon Bleu’s website ), food museum websites, podcasts, and cooking shows (e.g., Next Baking Master: Paris on Netflix).

Topic 4: Art Heritage

  • How do art museums in Paris such as the Louvre Museum, Musée d'Orsay, Musee Marmottan Monet, and Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris use visual/verbal modes in media such as videos, virtual exhibitions, and online collections to provide access to French art history? How do the art museums attempt to use technical communication to underscore the relevance of the art history to French identity?
