ENGL 1301: "The Late 1900s"

The 1990s saw major social, political, and technological changes as well as a flowering of popular culture. This course will focus on the last decade of the twentieth century, the late 1900s, exploring how the developments – cultural and scientific – of the period still exert influence on our present world. Students will cultivate research, critical reading, writing, and other communication skills as they study the popular culture and history of the 1990s. 

Course Outcomes:

1. Demonstrate knowledge of individual and collaborative writing processes.

2. Develop ideas with appropriate support and attribution, demonstrating ethical use of sources.

3. Write in a style appropriate to audience and purpose.

4. Read, reflect, and respond critically to a variety of texts.

5. Use edited American English in academic essays, employing proper grammar and sentences.
