PT Specialist III Training

Training for new PT Specialist IIIs and a refresher for current PT Specialist IIIs.

PT Specialist III Support- PT Reference Librarians

Support Priorities:

  1. Since they are already located near the Tech Station, the PT Reference Librarians will help support the Tech station. They need to train and learn all the tasks that are required at the Tech Station in order to help students when the Tech station person has multiple students needing help.
  2. The PT Reference Librarian’s will be cross trained with Circulation to be able to help with routine tasks which include: checking in and out circulating and reserve items, updating privilege and library location in a patron’s record (in order to access unique LSC-Kingwood databases,) and a general understanding of library record management which will also help them with collection development. They do not leave their station, nor do they make IDs, but instead perform Circulation tasks at their Research & Citation station.
  3. The PT Reference Librarians will also be cross trained at the Tutoring Station to be able to help check in students temporarily when the Specialist III assigned to the Tutoring Station has to step away and the Specialist III assigned to the Circulation Station is issuing Student IDs, and the Specialist III assigned to Tech Help is helping a student with Technology or printing.  In general, it is the Specialist III assigned at the Circulation Station who helps support the Tutoring Station, and the Specialist III assigned at the Tutoring Station who helps support the Circulation Station.

Please ask the LC Desk Supervisor (Anne) for clarification of duties if needed.
