Remember, the first route to solving any IT problem will always be to try turning it off and on again.
BLACK SCREEN
- Press the Power Button to turn the laptop on.
- Try a hard reboot by holding the power button down for a minute until the HP logo appears.
- If it does not turn on:
- Note the laptop's number (KC-LT-L100-##) and email Allison. Please state the problem in the email.
- Instruct the student to return the laptop to the kiosk. Make sure the student answers the prompt about a problem with the laptop. Have them check out a new one.
UNABLE TO LOG IN
This is generally an easy fix.
- Verify that they are using and typing their user name and password correctly. The user name is their LSC email address. For students it will end in @my.lonestar.edu.
- If the student is sure they have typed the information correctly, plug the blue ethernet cable, located at the Tech Help station, into the laptop and have the student log in.
- If neither of these steps work:

LAPTOP IS LOCKED
All this means is that the previous user did not sign-out. On the log in screen, go to the bottom left corner and click on "Other User". Now the student can sign in. If they have trouble, connect the laptop to the blue ethernet cable.
LOST THE USE OF THE TOUCHPAD
Double-tap the top left corner of the touchpad to turn it back on.
